Bobby Doherty

Bobby Doherty is a photographer who shoots in the style of pop art, which is something I wanted to incorporate into my final images also. Doherty has a very unique style of photography as you can see below and also composes his photos in a different style to most photographers. As you can see he focuses on really vibrant colours yet he keeps a symmetrical composition with random bright foods and objects, Whilst studying at New York’s School of Visual Art, Doherty decided that everything he shot should be vertical, in colour and on 35mm film.

I attempted a recreation of Doherty's work but added my own twist to it, I shot a series of photos on 35mm film and I then cut up the photos and made them into a new photo by sticking them together. This was a slightly different approach to editing as apposed to photo shop but I wanted to recreate the same wacky vibe that Doherty achieved but still stick to the pop art colours. I shot the photos down at the skatepark as a feel as though a skatepark always has a contrast of different people. and as my project is on the contrast of personality I tried to show that best in this hand edit.

Below is all the photos I had to choose from after getting the film developed.
